Recently, the CEO of Facebook, Mark Zuckerberg, posted a detailed article about the future of social media. Here is what is in store for content creators & influencers when it comes to building your tribe.

“I believe a privacy-focused communications platform will become even more important than today’s open platforms. Privacy gives people the freedom to be themselves and connect more naturally, which is why we build social networks.

Today we already see that private messaging, ephemeral stories, and small groups are by far the fastest growing areas of online communication.” – Mark Zuckerberg

There are 3 Important Factors to Look At:

  1. Private Messaging: Facebook is taking the steps to encrypt texts on their platforms (Instagram, Direct Messages & Messenger) Privacy is a huge concern for obvious safety & security reasons & although they cannot read our messages anymore, your audience prefers building an intimate connection with you, knowing a day in your life or interacting with stories whether you are using polls, questions or fun Gifs.
  2. According to Zuckerberg the fastest growing preferred communication for influencers, brands & people on Instagram is Instagram Stories. Why? They are short term 24 Hour based pieces of content that is not focused on likes or algorithms but it’s an unfiltered genuine connection that focuses on the “social” relationship you are developing with your audience. Stories are a huge communication tool.
  3. Tribe Building through DM Messages or Groups: Small groups & DM chats are the best way to talk to your close friends & share inspiration. Social Media is about building a community. The more that you engage in genuine conversation with others, the more they will click on your profile, view your stories & decide if you are making a genuine connection with them. Make sure you share your genuine beliefs & what your “why” or reason you share content with your audience. Drive people to check out your Stories, Highlights & etc. Empower other creators & women like yourself.
  4. Instagram is now creating opportunities for influencers to make posts on Instagram Shoppable: This Instagram feature was announced last month. It allows the shopper to complete her shopping experience through the app. You can tap on the product tag within the image & you will see “Checkout on Instagram.” The image below is from Source Article.
